Effect of gypenosides on blood pressure and isolated vasoconstriction in spontaneously hypertensive rats

Abstract:

Blood pressure is a factor in many bodily processes. For instance, higher blood pressure increases the chance of heart disease and stroke, leading to 1 in 3 deaths worldwide. It's imperative to keep an eye on blood pressure as one way of monitoring symptoms of high blood pressure, which can be subtle and easy to miss (even for people who aren't hypertensive). Isolated vasoconstriction is the constriction of just one artery. In this study, researchers found that gypenosides was able to increase blood pressure in spontaneously hypertensive rats but had no effect on isolated vasoconstriction. Hmmm... This finding is counter to the recent findings from others on isolated vasoconstriction.
