Abstract:
This study examines the integration of biofeedback mechanisms with mental health education as a biotechnological intervention to improve psychological states and neural activity in patients with psychopathology. Using a sample of 105 clinically diagnosed psychologically depressed student patients at H City People’s Hospital from January 2022 to January 2023, the therapeutic effects of biofeedback were evaluated. Patients were randomly divided into two groups: 36 patients in the control group received traditional mental health education, while 36 patients in the experimental group received EEG biofeedback therapy in addition to mental health education. Key indicators, including brain wave activity and heart rate variability (HRV), as well as the coupling coordination index, were measured and compared between the two groups. Results showed that the experimental group exhibited significant improvements in neural activity and psychological resilience compared to the control group. Specifically, the lgLF of the experimental group after treatment was 2.03 ± 0.52, compared to 2.45 ± 0.32 in the control group, reflecting a notable enhancement in autonomic nervous system regulation. Furthermore, the coupling coordination index of the experimental group increased from 0.5073 to 0.8423, representing a 1.62-fold improvement. These findings demonstrate the synergistic potential of combining biofeedback mechanisms with mental health education in enhancing psychological well-being and neural function. This research highlights the value of biofeedback as a biotechnological tool for advancing mental health interventions, with significant implications for public health. By fostering positive psychological development and improving neural regulation, this approach offers a scalable and innovative solution for addressing mental health challenges. Future applications may explore the broader commercialization and integration of biofeedback technologies in educational and healthcare settings to promote sustainable mental health outcomes.
