Abstract:

This study seeks to evaluate the industry-academic collaboration models in the biotechnology sector in the United Kingdom. The study has its main focus on biotechnology translation and commercialization. The study’s independent variables are technology transfer and innovative orientation, and dependent variable is bio-technology venture performance. Furthermore, the study examined the moderating role of academia-industry collaboration and mediating role of knowledge sharing. The research method of study is quantitative. Data was collected by conducting survey of the industry experts from the biotechnology industry in the United Kingdom. Results of analysis show that innovative orientation has an impact on knowledge sharing. Innovative orientation, technology transfer and knowledge sharing significantly impact bio-technology venture performance. Mediating impact of knowledge sharing is accepted, and moderating impact of academia-industry collaboration is insignificant. The study offers implications and suggest future research directions.
