Abstract

This article will explore the potential of visualization and simulation technology in healthcare through clinical data mining and the implementation of analytics. All doctors and clinicians want to utilize technology to solve problems, provide better care, and improve their practice. Visualization is a powerful way of providing people with an understanding of how the data is related. Simulation provides an accurate portrayal of reality which can be altered through 'what-if' scenarios. These techniques have yet to be applied extensively in healthcare but the potential for helpful clinical insights is great. Clinicians may soon design their decision-making process or surgical intervention on complex cases using high-fidelity simulations where they may not have access to real physical models or cadavers, significantly shortening the time that it would take otherwise
