Abstract

Music, long regarded as a universal and innovative language, expresses emotions in a manner that is both direct and profound, though its intricate nuances often remain elusive. Historically, the creation of music has been the domain of a select few with creative prowess. In the realm of electronic music, the composer plays a pivotal role, shaping sounds that are created or modified electronically. Electronic instruments, such as the electric guitar, produce music mechanically or acoustically and then amplify it electrically or electronically. In contemporary times, musicians are equipped with a plethora of tools for translating their musical ideas into reality, far beyond the traditional manipulation of acoustic instruments. This evolution is particularly relevant in the application of music within healthcare settings, including the pharmaceutical industry. Our research focuses on the six primary emotions identified as love, joy, surprise, anger, sorrow, and horror, employing a data set representative of each. This emotional spectrum, often featured in film soundtracks, provides a rich source for our training corpora, with the Free MIDI File Database supplying the necessary MIDIs for experimentation. We propose and realize an electronic music player designed specifically for healthcare applications, including therapeutic settings in the pharmaceutical industry. This player utilizes a method for correlating speech intonation with a valence-arousal two-dimensional plane, allowing the system to intuitively select tracks that align with the user's emotional state. This technology is particularly beneficial for pharmaceutical professionals, aiding in stress management and emotional regulation. Future enhancements will focus on expanding the data corpus and incorporating song creation capabilities, further tailoring the musical experience to the specific needs of healthcare and pharmaceutical environments. This integration of electronic music technology in healthcare not only enriches the therapeutic landscape but also opens new avenues for emotional and psychological support in high-pressure industries like pharmaceuticals.
