The integrity of Optical Fiber Composite Overhead Ground Wire (OPGW) is crucial for reliable power transmission and communication services, especially since these cables are susceptible to damage from natural phenomena like low-temperature freezing. This study introduces a vibration information monitoring system for OPGW optical cables, employing weak fiber Bragg grating technology. This system utilizes a grating array sensing approach that detects variations in the center wavelength of reflected light, enabling it to monitor cable vibrations effectively. We constructed and tested a vibration monitoring setup that accurately reflects the vibration characteristics of the OPGW cables. Experimental results confirm the system's high fidelity, with main frequency measurements closely aligning with those of the excitation source and exhibiting minimal fluctuation (within a 0.2 Hz range). Furthermore, the system demonstrated superior performance in terms of phase stability and signal propagation accuracy, with negligible measurement errors in frequency. This system's enhanced capabilities not only improve monitoring accuracy but also contribute significantly to the safety and operational reliability of optical cables.
