Effective visual communication plays a crucial role in biotechnology and healthcare environments, where clear and intuitive graphical symbols are essential for patient navigation, laboratory safety, and scientific communication. This study explores the impact of animated graphic symbol optimization in improving the comprehensibility of biotech and healthcare-related symbols, utilizing visual narrative strategies to enhance user engagement and understanding. Given the increasing adoption of digital interfaces and electronic displays in biotech facilities, optimizing animated design solutions is essential for ensuring universal accessibility and efficient information transfer. This research identified eight graphic symbols with suboptimal comprehension in biotechnology and healthcare settings, which were then subjected to animated optimization through a structured workshop-based design process incorporating four distinct visual narrative strategies. A cohort of 30 participants evaluated the effectiveness of these newly designed animated symbols. Results demonstrated significant improvements in comprehension for five symbols, with three meeting ISO standard requirements and three out of four visual narrative strategies proving effective. The findings highlight the importance of visual storytelling and animated design in biotech communication, offering an innovative, data-driven approach to symbol optimization in digital public facility environments, laboratory settings, and healthcare applications. This study provides strategic insights for biotech professionals, medical device developers, and digital health designers, advocating for the integration of optimized visual narratives to improve the clarity, accessibility, and efficiency of biotech-related graphical communication systems.
