Perceived Barriers to Biotechnology Commercialization: Surveying European Scientists on Implications for Training

The purpose of this study is to examine the perceived barriers to the commercialization of biotechnology in the context of European biotechnology industry. The study explores the barriers in the way of biotechnology commercialization in Europe. This paper seeks the impact of lack of trust, perceived value, and fear of knowledge leakage on the biotechnology commercialization. The study also analyses the mediating impact of training. The study has used a quantitative research design, and the data has been gathered and analyzed by using quantitative methods. Data has been collected by conducting a survey of scientists who are currently working in the field of biotechnology in Europe. The results of this study have shown that lack of trust, perceived value and fear of knowledge leakage have a significant impact on training and biotechnology commercialization as well. The mediation of training is found to be insignificant.
