Abstract

The potential use of embryonic stem cells for the treatment of common diseases raises a number of ethical concerns relating to the use of embryos in research and the possibility of human reproductive cloning. This paper assesses the debate about the moral permissibility of research using embryonic cells and outlines recent changes in UK legislation.
