Abstract

Encouraging technology innovation, specifically preventive health technology, can use the intellectual property regime to the public health's benefit.  Patents today are currently concentrated in reactive care technology.  However some preventive technologies, particularly the IUD, are gaining popularity.  The Affordable Care Act and other government policies present an opportunity for more preventive care techologies to flourish.
