Abstract:

This research study examines the role that university research laboratories play in the process of transferring innovations to private industry and gives an analysis of that role. In addition, it examines the significant role that innovation plays in the overall performance of the biotechnology industry in France, which is the primary focus of the study. In particular, the current study also investigates the role that academic-industry collaboration plays in the relationship between innovation orientation, technology transfer, and organizational performance; the impact that technology transfer has on firm performance in the French biotech sector; and the impact that innovation orientation has on firm performance in the French biotech sector. Although the importance of research laboratories to the development of new technologies and the biotechnology industry as a whole, the scope of this study has focused on this particular level of investigation. By utilizing data from famous research centres located within French institutions that have received exceptionally high marks, this study helps fill the void left by earlier research. Questionnaires were issued to university research laboratories to collect data addressing the enhancement of knowledge transfer to the industry. The findings present a novel perspective on the influence of technology transfer on the success of biotechnology businesses in France and open up new research avenues that could be investigated in future work.
